Millions of Floridians were left without power after Hurricane Ian made landfall as a Category 4 storm on Wednesday, September 28; at least six people died in the storm, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Video posted by Sheriff Carmine Marceno shows the extent of the flooding damage in Lee County, as seen on Thursday morning. The Sanibel Causeway can be seen partially wiped out.

“We are devastated,” Marceno wrote on Twitter. “Our hearts go out to every resident who is impacted. The Lee County Sheriffs Office is mobile and will stop at nothing to help our residents.”

Hurricane Ian had become a tropical storm crossing through Florida, moving on to threaten South Carolina’s coast with hurricane conditions, on Thursday, the National Hurricane Center said.
