Areas of northern Thailand witnessed apocalyptic scenes on March 28 as air pollution blankets the region in an orange smog. With PM2.5 dust levels at 339 micrograms per cubic meter – more than six times the safe level of 50 – the government is under pressure to declare it a 'disaster zone'.
