An atmospheric river broke the one-day rainfall record for downtown San Francisco on October 25, the National Weather Service (NWS) said, as the storm prompted flash flood warnings elsewhere in the Bay Area.

At least 3.56 inches of rain had been recorded in the city at around 9:20 pm, smashing the previous daily record of 2.48 inches on October 13, 2009. The NWS said the storm had pushed the month into being the second-wettest on record.

Thousands of people had power outages due to the storm, according to Pacific Gas & Electric.
