President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and First Lady Jill Biden spoke with George Floyd’s family over the phone on April 20 after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all counts in the murder of Floyd.

Footage shared by civil rights attorney Ben Crump shows the Floyd family’s reactions during the call.

“I think of Gianna’s comment ‘My dad is gonna change the world’ – we’re going to start to change it now,” President Biden said.

“This is a day of justice in America. In George’s name and memory, we are going to make sure his legacy is intact,” Harris said. “We really do believe that with your leadership and the president that we have in the White House, that we’re going to make something good come out of this tragedy.”

Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. The verdict was announced just after 4 pm on Tuesday afternoon at the Hennepin County Government Center. Credit: Ben Crump Law via Storyful
