California National Guard Members Tend to Land Burned by CZU Lightning Complex

California National Guard members helped clear debris and tend to land burned by the CZU Lightning Complex fires on Monday, August 31.

The CZU Lightning Complex fires have burned more than 85,000 acres across San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties since the fires started on August 16, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). The blazes were 43 percent contained as of Tuesday.

The fires have destroyed more than 1,400 structures and resulted in at least one death, reports said.
