Car Sits in Floodwaters in New York City as Nor'easter Storm Brings Heavy Rain

Motorists drove down flooded streets in New York City on Tuesday, October 26, as a nor’easter storm brought heavy rain to parts of the state.

This footage filmed by Marvin Washington, shows a car sitting in floodwater on Jennings Street in New York City on Monday. He captioned the video, “Well #Ida was a huge mess in #NYC but todays #noreaster will be epic! As fall leaves have stopped up drains and flooding has already begun.”

The state’s governor, Kathy Hochul, declared a state disaster emergency on Monday. As of Tuesday afternoon, the storm had dropped 2.73 inches of rain in Central Park, while Newark received 3.08 inches and LaGuardia airport in Queens tallied 2.15 inches, according to the NWS.
