Hurricane Iota made landfall in Nicaragua as a Category 4 storm on November 16, bringing “life-threatening storm surge and catastrophic winds” to the Central American nation.

The system was carrying sustained winds of up to 155 miles per hour, and officially made landfall at 10:40 pm local time, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm hit the area weeks after Hurricane Eta made landfall as a Category 4 storm and left at least 120 dead in flash floods and landslides across Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico according to reports.
