Czech President Milos Zeman appointed Petr Fiala as the country’s new prime minister on Sunday, November 28, while sitting inside a plexiglass box after he had tested positive for COVID-19.

Video posted on Facebook by Petr Fiala shows the president sitting in a wheelchair while appointing the new prime minister at the Lany chateau, an official residence of the president.

The ceremony was initially scheduled to take place on Friday, but it was postponed due to the president’s positive COVID-19 test.

Zeman then spent two days in hospital. He was asymptomatic, according to doctors quoted in local media. Credit: Petr Fiala via Storyful
