Crowds lined the streets of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), as Pope Francis arrived in the city on Tuesday, January 31, marking the first papal visit to the nation since 1985.

According to Vatican News, the pope is visiting the DRC as a “pilgrim of peace,” carrying a message of reconciliation and hope as the country “suffers from armed clashes and exploitation."
