Severe storms with heavy rain caused flash flooding in Providence, Rhode Island, as a large storm system swept the East Coast on Tuesday, June 22.

Chris Palmer shared footage of a motorist trying and failing to drive through several inches of water in Cranston, southwest of Providence, on Tuesday afternoon. “Someone forgot to tell this guy Crown Vics don’t swim,” Palmer joked in the video’s caption.

Cranston and surrounding areas were under a severe thunderstorm warning. “Pea-size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph” were possible, according to the National Weather Service. Credit: Chris Palmer via Storyful
