Drivers Fuel Up at Georgia Gas Station After Pipeline Cyberattack

Long lines were seen outside gas stations in Georgia and other southeastern states on Tuesday, May 11, amid fears of shortages due to the shutdown of the Colonial Gas Pipeline following a cyberattack.

The pipeline network ships more than 2.5 million barrels of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel per day, about 45 percent of the fuel consumed on the East Coast, according to AL.com.

Long lines and gas shortages were also reported in Florida and the Carolinas.

Jackie Davis-Hodges posted this footage on Tuesday that shows drivers getting gas at a Sam’s Club fuel station in Alpharetta, Georgia.

“Because of the pipeline, this is what it looks like getting gas at Sam’s this morning … line already getting long!” Davis-Hodges said on Facebook. Credit: Jackie Davis-Hodges via Storyful
