Video released on December 8 by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in New York captures the dramatic rescue of a victim of a rollover car accident in October.

Bodycam footage shows MCSO Deputies Caitlin Toomey and Justin Overend responding to the scene of the crash just after 10:30 pm on Saturday, October 23, in the town of Rush. Toomey is heard asking bystanders if anyone witnessed the crash before running to the man pinned beneath the vehicle.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim asked Sgt Toomey to hold his hand. She is heard responding, “I will.”

For 30 minutes, Toomey and Overend stayed with the man and “never left his side.” The Rush Fire Department arrived and lifted the vehicle so the victim could be extricated. EMS workers took the man to the hospital.

The MCSO thanked all involved for their life-saving expertise, adding on Facebook, “We would like to recognize the compassion displayed by Deputies Caitlin Toomey and Justin Overend” at the scene. Credit: Monroe County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
