Evacuations were ordered in Maui County, Hawaii, on March 8 after flash flooding prompted concerns a dam had been breached.

Everyone in Haiku, near the Kaupakalua Dam, was ordered to evacuate, according to the County of Maui.

Hawaii Gov David Ige urged residents to stay out of the area downstream from the Kaupakulua Dam until the danger had passed.

Around half a dozen homes were badly damaged or destroyed during the flooding event, according to local media reports.
