A fire broke out in a scrap yard near the London City Airport in the late hours of May 5.

Footage captured by Twitter user @shannxnvictoria shows a haze of smoke over the airport.

The London Fire Brigade reported ten fire engines and seventy firefighters were on the scene at a scrap yard on Thames Road in Newham. No injuries have been reported. Credit: @shannxnvictoria via Storyful
