'Fireball' Streaks Across the Night Sky Over Pennsylvania

A trucker driving through Pennsylvania in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 30, captured a “fireball” streaking across the sky on his dashcam.

In this video, captured by Trucker Beetle Bailey, a voice is heard over the radio shortly after the sight saying, “Whoa, did anybody see that flash of light? Something just came streaking across the sky.”

Meteorologist Jeff Oechslein told WTOV the fireball was “actually a meteoroid,” getting closer to earth.

“But as it encounters the earth’s atmosphere what happens is it begins to burn up and we see that ball of fire in the sky,” Oechslein said.

New reports said the meteoroid was seen in sixteen US states and the province of Ontario. Credit: Trucker Beetle Bailey via Storyful
