Firefighting Helicopter Assists as Crews Battle Wildland Fire in Auberry, California

A fire burning at a lumber mill in Auberry, California, on Wednesday, June 16, threatened structures and prompted evacuations for nearby residents.

The wildland fire broke out at a five-acre site filled with stacked logs and was contained at three to four acres early Wednesday afternoon, according to the Fresno County Fire Protection District.

Forward progress of the fire was stopped approximately two hours later, the district said.

According to Cal Fire, the blaze may take up to five days to extinguish, local media reported.
