Flowers? Bear Rebuffs Animal Sanctuary Worker's Floral Treat

Being rebuffed when offering someone flowers has got to be difficult to deal with, but when it’s a 370-pound Syrian brown bear who doesn’t like the offer, it’s probably best to just let it slide.

Footage shared by the Orphaned Wildlife Center, in Otisville, New York, on July 20, shows one of the Center’s founders, Jim Kowalczik, sharing a peaceful moment with three of the facility’s resident bears; Amy, Jenny and Frankie.

While the footage shows Frankie happily gobbling up a flower handed to him by Kowalczik, Amy is far from sure about the colorful treat she’s offered, and instead chooses to playfully put Kowalczik’s hand in her mouth.

Founded in 2015, the Center nurtures its animal residents, in the hope they can be returned to the wild.
