Former State Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Arrested by Azerbaijan Security Service

Azerbaijan’s State Security Service detained a former leader of the breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh government at the Lachin border checkpoint on Wednesday, September 27.

This footage shows former state minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh government Ruben Vardanyan being taken into custody by Azerbaijan’s State Security Service.

The Azerbaijan State News Agency said alleged crimes by Vardanyan were being investigated by prosecutors, including financing of terrorism, participation in armed groups, and illegal crossing of the state border of Azerbaijan.

Vardanyan is an Armenian citizen, the agency said.
