France Protests Continue After Government Survives No-Confidence Vote

Protests against the French government’s plan to raise the retirement age continued in Paris on Monday, March 20, after President Emmanuel Macron survived a no-confidence vote and the bill became law.

Protesters took to Place Vauban on Monday evening, footage posted by a local journalist shows. Anti-riot police cordoned off the plaza, making it difficult for more protesters to join the demonstration, according to Le Monde.

Representatives David Guiraud and Clementine Autain, of left-wing parties NUPES and France Unbowed, respectively, joined the protests, footage shows.
