Hurricane Damage Seen in Des Allemands, Louisiana

Storm Ida made landfall in coastal Louisiana on August 29 as a Category 4 hurricane, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 mph, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported.

Widespread power outages continued to affect southern Louisiana and Mississippi as residents surveyed the impact of the hurricane on Monday, August 30.

Footage by Ravi Sangisetty shows damaged buildings along Highway 90 in Des Allemands, which was hit by Ida on Sunday.

Sangisetty said he was driving to Houma to check on his mother’s home and office on Monday.
