International Space Station Captures Wildfire Smoke Over Northern California National Parks

Firefighters continued to battle blazes threatening the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in northern California and casting smoke over parts of Tulare and Inyo Counties, according to fire officials.

This footage, recorded from a NASA feed by ISS Above, shows smoke from wildfires in the area burning across the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks at 3:46 pm local time, according to their tweet.

The KNP Complex Fire reached 46,976 acres (about 73 square miles) and was eight percent contained as of Monday, authorities said.

The Windy Fire had burned 85,383 acres (about 133 square miles) and was two percent contained on the same day, according to InciWeb. Credit: ISS Above/NASA via Storyful
