Ketanji Brown Jackson Makes History as First Black Woman Sworn in as Supreme Court Justice

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was sworn into the United States Supreme Court on Thursday, June 30, making her the first black female justice to serve on the nation’s highest court.

Jackson is replacing Justice Stephen Breyer, who retired after nearly 28 years of service. Jackson joins Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor as a liberal member of the court.
