Washington’s night sky was illuminated by the glowing red, white and blue Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and flashes of lightning during Independence Day weekend on Saturday, July 2.

The Fourth of July weekend started off with a bang in the nation’s capital as the area was under a severe thunder storm watch according to the National Weather Service.
