A Canadian dad revealed his tips for building the perfect snow shelter after he hollowed out a small cave for himself in a huge snow bank.

In this footage, Montreal resident David Freiheit demonstrates how to build a quinzhee, a snow shelter made from a large pile of loose snow.

In this video, Freiheit explains how he shoveled around four feet of snow from the roof of his apartment building onto the sidewalk.

After leaving it to harden overnight, Freiheit said he then used a variety of garden tools to shape and hollow out the structure. He also demonstrated how much space was inside the quinzhee, cheerfully lifting a coffee mug in a hunched-over posture. Credit: David Freiheit via Storyful
