Michigan’s Governor pleaded for greater coronavirus assistance on March 27, after weathering attacks from President Trump, who said in a press conference the same night that officials shouldn’t call her because she wasn’t appreciative.

This video was posted on Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s official Twitter account. Michigan currently has over 3,500 confirmed coronavirus cases — a huge rise since last week — and at least 92 people have died from complications from the virus.

“We know that COVID-19 cases are rising exponentially, and they will do so across the country,” said Whitmer. “But right now Michigan is a hot spot. Right now we have people fighting for our lives in our hospitals, families who are moourning loved ones, and we need assistance.”

“We need more masks and more gloves and more gowns,” added the governor. “We need the PPE right now. We are worried about making it through this weekend.”
