Police officers detained an armed man outside United Nations headquarters in New York City following an hours-long standoff on Thursday, December 2, authorities reported.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday afternoon, New York law enforcement officials said the man was carrying a shotgun, which he held to his head, and demanded that “papers” be handed over to the world body. After the documents were delivered to the UN, the man gave himself up, said NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Benjamin Tucker.

This video, recorded by Thomas Spera on Thursday afternoon, shows the man being brought into custody.
