Hurricane Rick made landfall in Mexico’s southwest as a Category 2 storm on October 25, bringing powerful winds of up to 165 km/h and intense rainfall.

The storm was later downgraded to a tropical depression as it made its way inland towards Jalisco state.

In the early hours of October 26, officials warned that the heavy rains could still lead to landslides and flooding in Michoacan, Guerrero, and Jalisco. The weather system was producing winds of up to 55 km/h.
