Portland Protesters Target Police Association Building

A Portland Police Association (PPA) building was set alight amid protests late on August 8, prompting police to declare a riot and move to clear the demonstration.

“This is a terribly dangerous situation. Officers moved the crowd so the fire could be extinguished before it could grow out of control,” police reported, tweeting that “all people, including members of the press,” would face arrest, citation, or “crowd control agents” if they failed to move on.

Earlier, eyewitness footage had shown large crowds marching in the city, as well as dumpsters being set alight in the streets.
