Residents Wake to Torn Up Streets After Flash Floods Strike Dinant, Belgium

Residents of the Belgian city of Dinant awoke on July 25 to survey damage caused by intense flash floods the day before. It’s the latest blow for a country still reeling from storms that killed dozens earlier this month.

Belgium’s national crisis center reported that “about thirty cars were dragged along by the water and several streets were closed.” The center added that the city’s train station was impacted and local fire brigades were receiving many calls for assistance. Local reports said that roads were “ripped up.”
