A diver discovered that three’s a crowd while hanging out with two seals off the coast of the Farne Islands, an archipelago in the North Sea, earlier this month.

Footage filmed by Ben Burville shows two grey seals vying for his attention, as they take turns to hold his hand.

“I don’t mind diving in a trio, although one dive buddy can easily feel left out,” Burville tweeted alongside the video.

Burville, a scuba diver who works as a doctor in the coastal town of Amble, Northumberland, by day, has built up a rapport with seals in the area after nearly 20 years diving among them. Credit: Ben Burville via Storyful
