Storm Chaser Catches Moment Vehicle Slides Off Road in Hail

A storm chaser who was filming a hail shower near Moore, Montana, caught the surprising moment when a vehicle slipped on the icy surface and slid off the road.

The National Weather Forecast issued a statement on July 5, warning that “pea-size hail” would fall near Moore the next day.

Footage by Jaden Pappenheim shows the eventual conditions, with a heavy downpour seen whitening the road the unfortunate motorist skids on.

“Oh my God, wow, we’ll go check on him real quick,” Pappenheim exclaims as the SUV goes flying past his camera.

He told Storyful that the passengers were two young army women, who fortunately were unharmed. When Pappenheim asked them what had happened, they said that that their vehicle had “hydroplaned” after hitting the hail. Credit: Jaden Pappenheim via Storyful
