Strong Winds Knock Out Power in Maine

Strong winds left many without power across Maine on March 2, the Portland Press Herald reported.

Central Maine Power said they restored power to more than 52,000 customers on Tuesday after the winds caused outages all day.

This clip from the National Weather Service in Caribou shows a meteorologist attempting to release a weather balloon when strong winds rip it from his grasp.

NWS Caribou said they recorded a peak wind gusts of 47 mph and that the forecast area recorded a high of 69 mph at Mount Desert Rock. Credit: NWS Caribou via Storyful
