Wall of Flame Rises Behind Greek Beach as Wildfires Spread

Hundreds of residents and vacationers were evacuated from six villages on the island of Evia on Tuesday, as a wildfire raged in the area of Limni, on its western coast, local media reported.

According to Ekathimerini.com, Regional Governor of Central Greece Fanis Spanos announced a state of emergency for Limni.

Firefighters worked through the night in an attempt to contain the fire, Spanos said on Facebook.
