A woman has been charged after allegedly driving onto a recreational ground in Redcliffe, Western Australia, on November 26, and causing council workers to take shelter on top of their vehicles.

Western Australia Police alleged the woman drove her vehicle, a white Hyundai Getz, onto the oval on Grand Parade and council staff took evasive action “due to the erratic nature of the woman’s driving”.

“The woman drove straight towards one particular work vehicle, coming within close proximity of a worker, who was required to take evasive action to avoid being struck,” police said on Facebook.
A member of the public took the keys from the car when the woman stopped the vehicle, police said.

The 45-year-old woman from Bayswater was taken to hospital and charged via summons. The vehicle was seized and impounded.

Police said the woman was charged with one count of endanger life, health or safety of a person, and one count of unlawfully possessed a controlled or prescription drug. Credit: Western Australia Police Force via Storyful
