Video captured the moment lightning struck a power line in eastern Mississippi, as the National Weather Service (NWS) warned of the potential for powerful storms on Thursday, June 2.

Footage shared by the Starkville Police Department shows lightning hitting a power line

“Expect to see officers at the intersection of Lynn Lane and Louisville Street for a number of hours until repairs are complete,” police said on Twitter.

Temporary stop signs were placed at the intersection while the stoplight was out, police said.
