WATCH: Alligator trapped in pipe for half a year, finally released

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, South Carolina (KMID/KPEJ)- After getting stuck in a tight space for half a year, a gator was released into its natural habitat. The owner of K and K Wildlife Services, Matt Kraycar said that he freed an alligator from a 12-inch drainage pipe by wiggling and gently pulling him from the space. Kraycar also said that the alligator picked a good time to get stuck in the pipe because it could "brumate," which is a time when reptiles enter into a certain type of hibernation to conserve energy during long periods of colder temperatures.
