A 143-year-old hammam reopens its doors

STORY: This 143-year-old Turkish bathhouse

in the West Bank has reopened its doors

after years of closure

Location: Hebron, West Bank

(Samir Qasrawi, Owner)

“We renovated it, as you can see if you look at the domes as we fixed its glass. We brought colored glass, so it reflects the sun and colors. We installed fire tiles, and it is a treatment in itself. We also have the sauna room and steam room. We cleaned the whole place, and we are ready to welcome clients.”

Al Na’im Hammam has been shut down

several times throughout its history

including in 2000 when it was

damaged during the second uprising

It has eight rooms, including a sauna,

a steam room and a resting area

(Samir Qasrawi, Owner)

"As you can see, we scrub the body with lemon and baking soda. This is the cleanest way to disinfect the body."

(Rafiq Jaabri, Customer)

"Before and after the Hammam is a feeling that I hope everybody experiences. I can't express the feeling with words, it is a great feeling and I invite all to come and experience it. Honestly, it's amazing."
