as displaced Palestinians say they're desperate for food

::Khalil al-Shannar, Displaced Palestinian from Jabalia

“I've been here since six in the morning waiting in line to get a bundle of bread. I have 14 people in my family - 14 people, and until now I haven't gotten any.”

"If I don't die because of the war, I'll die from hunger. So we appeal to the entire world, to all free people of the world, to all humanity, and to all who claim democracy, and Arabs and Muslims at their forefront - enough!"

::Aid agencies have renewed warnings of

widening malnutrition and the danger of famine

:: Mohamed al-Banna, Bakery owner

"There is no flour in World Food Programme warehouses, the stock has run out. The organization's working hours have been reduced to maintain continuity of operations, and this is not enough for a million displaced people in the central area."

Al-Shannar said he had been waiting since early in the morning to secure bread for his family of 14 and that his children were hungry. He appealed to the world to help end the suffering in Gaza, as the war between Israel and Hamas moves into its second year with ceasefire talks apparently stalled.

Getting enough food to Gaza's 2.3 million people, almost all of whom have been displaced, has been one of the most fraught issues of the war. Aid agencies have renewed their warnings of widening malnutrition and the danger of famine.
