Homes, streets flood as storm batters central Greece

STORY: The storm caused the Krafsidonas river to overflow into the city's neighborhoods. Volos residents said the authorities were still dealing with the aftermath of Daniel and had not been adequately prepared for another storm.

More than 250 people have been evacuated from the area since Storm Elias struck on Wednesday (September 27) afternoon, the fire brigade said, adding that it had so far received 1,200 calls for help.

The mayor of Volos said power outages caused by the storm and flooding had plunged 80% of the city into darkness by Wednesday night.
