STORY: Polls indicate the PP will win the July elections but likely need Vox’s support to form a government, leaving the LGBTQ community fearing their hard-fought rights will be curtailed or withdrawn. In the regional parliament of the Balearic Islands, the PP and Vox voted on Tuesday (June 27) not to display the pride flag.

March participant Alex Elisha Gonzalez said, "It's really good to celebrate the rights we have gained, but we still don't have a lot of things and we need to keep fighting for them, and also there are some things that are about to slip through our hands."

Organiser Tigra said it's important for the LGBTQ community to celebrate their existence, but added, "we have to remember that it's more than a party, it is a demand for rights."

Critical Pride is held every year in Madrid on the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York, and is as an alternative to the official gay pride events, offering the LGBT community a space to protest and demand further rights.

The official gay pride parade will take place in Madrid on Saturday (July 2) and is set to attract over a million people.
