South Koreans ring in 2022 with quintuplet tiger cubs

2022 will also see the start of the Year of the Tiger, according to the Korean zodiac, adding significance for visitors.

"I feel very good now as I saw good-looking Korean tigers. I will have a child next year, in the Year of the Tiger. I hope that next year will be a prosperous and happy year for all," said visitor Lim Bo-ram, after watching tiger cubs playing in the snow-covered enclosure with her husband.

The quintuplets, whose combined names of Areum, Da-un, Uri, Nara, and Gangsan mean 'beautiful landscape of our country', were born on June 27, 2021. It was a rare event as tigers usually only give birth to a litter of two or three, according to the zoo located within the Everland amusement park in Yongin.
