Kinana al-Bunni is steering changing attitudes

towards female taxi drivers

After realizing that working indoors did not suit her

the single mother pursued a career as a taxi driver

a route not typically taken by women in her country

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SYRIAN TAXI DRIVER, KINANA AL-BUNNI, SAYING:

"There is a belief here in this country that women do not know how to drive. So I try to change this idea and show that a woman can drive and sometimes drive better than a man."

With the support of her close friends

she managed to overcome the initial obstacles

She currently works for a private company

but dreams of owning her own business
