Whale becomes stranded in London's River Thames

The small whale, reported to be a minke by local media, was filmed being hosed down by a man at the river's edge in Richmond Lock and Weir, in the south-west of England's capital city.

Rescuers from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution later arrived on the scene to attempt to rescue the animal.
