Brazilian invites Greta Thunberg to his houseboat made of trash

STORY: Will Greta Thunberg visit this house of trash in Brazil?

‘Luiz Bispo’ made his floating home from recycled scraps

Location: Pavuna River, Rio De Janeiro

on a river taken over by raw sewage and garbage

He even has his own small swimming pool and van on board

"I have an incredible personal satisfaction knowing that I built this with recycled materials that were abandoned and polluting the river. This little window, for example, was a cupboard. My window was a wardrobe that was floating."

Barreto hopes environmental activists like Thunberg will come visit him

to see the environmental challenges facing Rio first-hand

He says his main aim is to make politicians pay attention

[Luiz Fernando Barreto, Brazilian artist]

"Come to Rio de Janeiro. Come help us, come walk along Guanabara Bay. It's simple out here on my little boat, but it's made entirely of recycled material. Come swim in my pool, the water is clean, come Greta, help me clean Guanabara Bay."
