Violence erupted in Brussels, Belgium, on January 23, as an estimated 50,000 people took to the streets to protest against COVID-19 measures.

According to Le Soir, attacks on police officers were reported and 230 people were arrested.

“Nothing can justify the physical attacks of which the police have been victims. In consultation with the king’s prosecutor, we will do everything to identify the perpetrators,” said Brussels Mayor Philippe Close.
