STORY: Ryanair faces a probe by the Italian Competition Authority.

Regulators say they are investigating the company over possible abuse of a dominant position in the market.

The ICA says it suspects the airline exerted power over sectors such as hotels and car rental.

It says Ryanair may have limited travel agencies’ ability to sell its tickets as part of package with accommodation and other services.

The Irish carrier is Europe’s largest airline, and a market leader in Italy

Back in December, the ICA opened a probe into possible price-fixing on some domestic flights over the Christmas holidays.

That investigation covers airlines including Ryanair, Wizz and easyJet.

In August Rome adopted a measure to cap airfares to the islands of Sicily and Sardinia.

But Ryanair and other airlines have challenged the legality of the move under EU law.
