Fed policy is 'modestly restrictive': Kashkari

The Federal Reserve is trying to strike a delicate balance: keep bringing inflation down while also keeping the economy strong enough to keep Americans employed. In their last statement, the FOMC stated they felt "that the risks to achieving its employment and inflation goals are roughly in balance." Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari says the central bank's policy right now is "modestly restrictive," noting that the job market remained robust despite rates being at 5.25%. "While I thought we were putting two feet on the brakes, I think in hindsight we were probably only putting one foot on the brakes," he adds.
