A waddle of penguins returning home to Victoria’s Phillip Island at sunset received more than 770,000 views during a livestream on August 25.

Viewers not only in Australia but around the world watched Live Penguin TV on Facebook and Youtube as Phillip Island’s famous penguins came ashore from Bass Strait to return to their nests.

Phillip Island Nature Parks chief executive Catherine Basterfield said the penguin parade was being streamed nightly with commentary while the attraction was closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“The wonderful feedback we received from around the world last night has highlighted the love for our little penguins,’’ Basterfield said.

“We have seen pictures posted on social media of entire families watching the parade on their computers and devices. It is great to be able to put smiles on faces, especially for people in COVID-19 lockdown."
