Dramatic bodycam footage from November 13 shows police officers rescuing a man from his burning pickup truck in Columbus, Ohio, following a distressing 911 call made while his brakes were failing.
The Columbus Division of Police released bodycam video of officers rescuing a man from his burning vehicle, as well as the victim’s 911 call.
Footage shows officers rushing toward the blazing truck and extracting the driver, Randy, out of the vehicle.
As heard in the call, Randy called 911 as his pickup truck was “steering by itself.” Seconds later, the driver can be heard saying, “I’m not gonna make it!” before the sound cuts off for a moment.
Once contact is reestablished, the driver tells the dispatcher his wrecked truck is on fire and he is unable to get out.
“I’m gonna die in here,” Randy says. “Tell my wife I love her.”
According to local media, police said the driver’s condition improved in the week since the wreck, and he was expected to survive. Credit: Columbus Police Department via Storyful
