Manhole Explosions Cause Disruption in Manhattan

Manhole explosions caused public confusion and disruption to train operations in the Hells Kitchen district of Manhattan, New York, on February 16.

The New York City Subway reported trains were prevented from stopping at 50th Street due to an active NYPD investigation involving a manhole explosion in the area.

Police blocked off streets while one local spotted a manhole on fire.

After emergency services attended to the incident, trains resumed operations at 50th Street.

This footage shows smoke coming from a manhole near the New World Stages venue in Manhattan. Other videos from the uploader show confused members of the public reacting to the situation on the streets.
